Research Title: Fundamental Study on Developing Processing Flowsheets for Enhanced Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from Allanite
Research Story: Allanite, a rare earth silicate mineral, remains underutilized for rare earth element production, despite recent high-grade deposits discovered in Wyoming. My research focuses on investigating allanite’s mineralogy and developing effective processing techniques through fundamental study to improve rare earth recovery and realize allanite’s economic potential. As economically viable rare earth deposits dwindle, this work becomes increasingly important in addressing technological, economic, and geopolitical challenges that could result in global shortages of these critical elements.
