Research Title: Fundamental Studies of Oil-Surfactant-Brine Interfacial System Using Molecular Dynamics Simulations

Research Story: My research focuses on enhancing oil recovery using advanced modeling techniques. I develop simulations that analyze fluid behavior in oil reservoirs, aiming to improve the efficiency of extracting trapped oil. By understanding how different recovery methods affect fluid movement and reservoir conditions, I help optimize production while reducing environment impact. This work is essential for maximizing energy resources, extending the life of oil fields, and supporting a more sustainable approach to energy production.

Why did you choose the Mining and Minerals Engineering Department at Virginia Tech?

I chose the MME Department at VT since it offers multidisciplinary research combining geomechanics, environmental science, and resource extraction. This department also contributes to innovation of cutting-edge technologies of energy extraction.

How did you get interested in mining?

My interest in Mining Engineering arises from a fascination with energy resources and how we can optimize their extraction process while minimizing environmental impact.

What are your career aspirations after completing your degree?

I aspire to work in the energy sector, focusing on EOR or CCS projects and initiatives. These areas are at the forefront of the energy transitions, offering solutions to increase efficiency while also addressing climate concerns.
