Melissa Simon.

Melissa L. Simon (Martinie), P.E., serves as the Director of Mine Engineering for Carmeuse. She leads a team of mine engineers who provide technical support to Limestone and Dolomite quarries in the United States and Canada.

Melissa graduated magna cum laude in 2006 with a B.S in mining engineering from Virginia Tech, where she participated in a yearlong European Mining Course. She worked at multiple iron ore mines and was Chief Engineer on an international assignment with Cliffs Natural Resources.

In addition to engineering, she has also held project management roles working directly in the mining industry and as a Senior Project Manager at Krech Ojard, an engineering and architecture firm.

Melissa is a Registered Member of SME, Six Sigma Black Belt, and an intermediate French speaker. She joined SME as a student and is an active member of the Mining & Exploration Division. She has been an active member of both the SME Minnesota Section and the SME Upper Peninsula of Michigan Section boards.
