Frank King

I currently serve as Chief Operating Officer of Silvi Materials, where I provide executive leadership across ready mix concrete, aggregates, mining, import, logistics, fleet, procurement, internal construction, and operational support teams. Since being promoted to COO in May 2024, I have helped lead enterprise operations across a growing multi-state materials business, with responsibility for safety performance, KP! reviews, capital allocation, acquisition integration, strategic planning, and leadership accountability. That role gives me a practical view of what today's mining and materials businesses need from the next generation of engineers, operators, and leaders.

I grew up just outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I was surrounded by the region's history in coal mining and steel production. My grandfather sparked my interest in engineering and heavy equipment because he was always building, fixing, or tinkering with something whenever I visited. That early exposure eventually led me to Virginia Tech, where I was drawn toward the mining program.  I earned a degree in Mining Engineering in 2005.

After graduation, I spent six years in Phoenix working in the building materials industry before returning to the Philadelphia area to be closer to family. I've been with Silvi Materials ever since and currently serve as Chief Operating Officer, helping lead the company's operations, growth initiatives, and strategic projects.

Outside of work, my wife and I have been married for 13 years and are raising our two children, ages nine and five. We enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, fishing, camping, and kids’ sports. When we do have downtime, I enjoy working on my old cars and tinkering around the garage with an ever-growing collection of machinery that I can, “fix one day.”  My kids have started joining in, so we might have 2 future Hokies in training!
