Brittany Horton
Brittany Horton has over ten years of experience working for the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). She is currently a Mine Safety and Health Specialist in the Accident Investigations Division at MSHA Headquarters, where she coordinates major facets of the accident investigations program. Prior to this role, she evaluated engineering concepts and alternative solutions to technical problems facing the mining industry as a General Engineer with MSHA Technical Support’s Applied Engineering Division.
Brittany is a 2015 graduate of Virginia Tech’s Department of Mining and Minerals Engineering and holds a Master of Science degree in Safety with an emphasis in Mine Safety from Marshall University. She is a licensed Professional Engineer and an active member of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration.
Brittany and her husband, Jonathan – also a graduate of VT MME – have a 2-year-old son and are expecting a daughter in March 2026.
