Brian Ball

Director of mine strategy

 Brian Ball serves as the director of mine strategy for The Mosaic Company's North American phosphate business. In this capacity, he is responsible for mine planning, geology, hydrogeology, surveying, and geographic information systems. Previous to this role, he served as general manager at Mosaic’s South Pasture and Wingate mines.

Ball began work in the phosphate industry in 1996 as an engineer with IMC-Agrico Company. Focused primarily on the mining side of the business, he progressed through various levels of operations management, until his departure in 2006. He then entered the lime and limestone industry, where he served as area operations manager for Carmeuse Lime and Stone’s surface and underground operations near Knoxville, Tennessee, and Macon, Georgia. He returned to Mosaic in 2011. 

Ball's professional experience includes dragline anddredge operation and management, hydraulic and slurry pumping systems design, underground hard rock mine design and operation, pyro-processing, and Six Sigma.

Brian has a Bachelor of Science degree in mining engineering from Virginia Tech and is a registered professional engineer in Florida. He resides in Lithia, Florida, with his wife and three children.
